Robert Weakley, President and Chief Executive Officer

Robert Weakley serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Monterey County, California-based INDUS Holding Co., a vertically integrated cannabis company with world-class capabilities, including cultivation, extraction and manufacturing, brand sales, marketing, and distribution. As the organization’s leader, Mr. Weakley is responsible for overseeing the senior management team, as well as creating and implementing the strategic direction of INDUS and its award-winning brands.

Having served as Chief Executive Officer since the organization’s founding in 2014, Mr. Weakley has remained committed to INDUS’ overarching goals: creating products that emphasize consumer safety while advancing the changing perceptions of cannabis use. In 2015 INDUS launched two cannabis-infused edible brands new to California: Altai Brands and Dixie Elixirs and Edibles. Under Mr. Weakley’s stewardship, INDUS has launched a portfolio of owned brands, including Flavor, Moon, House Weed and Cypress Cannabis.

Having played a pioneering role in the emergence of the regulated cannabis market, Mr. Weakley has forged partnerships with state and industry leaders to ensure positive growth in a highly regulated and evolving market. Mr. Weakley sits on the board of multiple cannabis organizations including the California Cannabis Manufacturers Association (CCMA) and the United Cannabis Business Association (UCBA). In 2018, INDUS became the exclusive distribution partner for WAYV, an automated, on-demand, online supply chain platform servicing brands and licensed retailers throughout California. The partnership links WAYV with INDUS’ statewide network, creating a trusted marketplace to browse and order cannabis products.

A 20-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Mr. Weakley evolved from hotel food and beverage operations into the large-scale epicurean event planning business in 2008 when he co-founded Coastal Luxury Management, a company widely recognized for producing annual luxury Food & Wine events in picturesque and influential destinations.

As a budding restaurateur, Mr. Weakley was instrumental to the purchase of the historic Stokes Adobe building and opened Restaurant 1833 in the summer of 2011. In addition, Coastal Luxury Management launched Cannery Row Brewing Co. in Monterey, CA in the summer of 2010, featuring the largest selection of beer on tap in Northern California. In December 2013, the company partnered with The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to open Rose. Rabbit. Lie., a venue blurring the lines between restaurant, entertainment space and nightclub. In early 2014, Coastal Luxury Management opened its first downtown Los Angeles restaurant, the acclaimed Faith & Flower.

Previously, Mr. Weakley held management positions at world-renowned Highlands Inn, Park Hyatt in Carmel, California, as well as at Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek, Colorado; Prairie Restaurant in Chicago; Grand Hyatt in Tampa Bay, Florida and Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Mr. Weakley is a graduate of Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smiths, New York and holds a degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. He serves on the executive board for Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County and the executive board of Monterey Business Council.

Maintaining ties to the culinary industry, Mr. Weakley is also a board member of the Monterey County Wine Educational Foundation and is a regional board member for the international gastronomic society Chaine des Rotisseurs. A certified sommelier and a former member of Les Toques Blanc and the International Wine and Food Society, Mr. Weakley is a past national board member for the American Institute of Wine & Food.
